K-5 Weekend Food Program

Dear Community Members,

We are excited to inform you that the South Butler elementary schools now have a K-5 Weekend Food Program in place.  This program is designed to provide food to students who don’t have enough to eat at home, whether as an ongoing situation or due to emergency family situations.  Since it was established in January, the K-5 Weekend Food Program has grown to feeding 35 elementary children each weekend.  We have managed to do so through generous donations from our school community.  However, as we move into the next school year, we foresee this program growing.  We are now in need of your help.

The goal of the South Butler K-5 Weekend Food Program is to provide each student with child-friendly, single-serving snacks and easily prepared meals – 2 breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks, plus fresh fruit and a drink. The food is sent home in a plastic bag on Fridays.  We cannot depend exclusively on support from student food drives and in-house donations.  We need the support of the South Butler community at large.

If you are willing to help, you can do so in any of three ways:

  • Sponsor a food drive at your church, workplace, or community organization. A list of suggested food items is below.
  • Purchase a Walmart gift card and mail to the address below.
  • Make a donation via the Knoch Knights Legacies Foundation. The Foundation is kindly “banking” our money for us, so please make a note on your check or Paypal donation (via website legaciesfoundation.org ) that the gift is in support of the South Butler K-5 Weekend Food Program.

Mail check payable to “Knoch Knights Legacies Foundation” to 328 Knoch Road, Saxonburg, PA 16056.

If you have any questions about the South Butler K-5 Weekend Food Program, please email Mrs. Marcia Holl at hollm@southbutler.net.

We are counting on your support in our fight against child hunger!

Sincerely,

The South Butler K-5 Weekend Food Team and The Knoch Knights Legacies Foundation
