Mandatory Pre-Participation Drug Screening

In a continuing effort to create an alcohol and drug-free setting for our students, in April of 2017 the South Butler County School District instituted Policy # 227.1, which mandates that any student in grades 9 - 12 who participates on an interscholastic athletic team or in an extracurricular activity or who wishes to have the privilege of driving to and parking at school must first submit to an initial drug screening and to random drug screenings throughout the school year.  These screenings are done at the school. Initial screening must be completed before participation in practices or competition and before receiving a parking permit. Initial screening cost of $30 is the responsibility of the parent. Random drug testing done throughout the year will be completed at the District’s expense. Parents/guardians have the right to opt their child out of the program when participation in the activity is over by submitting a letter to the principal.


To register for pre-participation drug screening, go to the District web page under Athletics/Activities and select Activity/Participation Registration.  When you click the Register Now button, you’ll be linked to Family ID. Select Drug and Alcohol Awareness for Athletic Programs, Extracurricular Activities, and Student Drivers, where you can schedule a screening date and time, as well as pay online for this service.
