School Delays & Cancellations

In cases of inclement weather or other emergencies, it may be necessary to delay the start of school, dismiss early or cancel school.  In those instances, the district will make every effort to notify parents via the School Messenger system.  Parent phone numbers that were submitted via Emergency Forms or in Skyward will be contacted.  If a parent would like additional numbers added to the system or if non-parent community members would like to receive the phone calls, please complete the Mass Notification Registration for Community Members Form.

Additionally, such announcements will be made on the following media outlets:

Decisions for school closures or delays are made between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.  Please be aware that the decision you may first hear (for example a one or two-hour delay in school) can change based on dramatic changes in weather conditions.  Please stay tuned to local radio and television stations for changes if weather conditions are questionable.

In order to keep district telephone lines open for emergency use, PLEASE do not call the school to obtain school closure and delay information.  Also, parents are urged to provide each child with training so they will know where to go if school is dismissed early in an emergency.  There may be times when the school could possibly be dismissed on very short notice, so it is suggested that your child be trained on how to cope in these circumstances.
