Mrs. Susan Hall's classes accepted a holiday STEM challenge in class before break. The challenge: Construct an evergreen tree out of 21 plastic cups and place an ornament at the top without touching the cups or ornament!
The students learned about what makes a structure stable, designed how they wanted their evergreen tree to look, and used a tool made out of 4 strings and a rubber band to stack the cups to create an evergreen tree. The focus was the design process, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and reflecting on the entire process.
